Reviews - CD

Andrew Reeves’ Ourfamous Dead are an exciting new addition to UK the electro-rock scene. While there are certainly improvements that can be made, there is serious potential on this demo.

If you like accessible Industrial akin to Blaqk Audio and Mindless Self Indulgence this stuff is for you.‘Years (an introduction)’ is a quirky synth-ridden (and slightly repetitive) number that leads seductively into the ‘Nature Of The Sovereign’ which borrows heavily from Marilyn Manson’s ‘Disposable Teens’ to create an infectious pop-rock standout track that’s built for club play and sweaty live arenas. Follow-up ‘England’s Burning’ blends raw samples and emotive lyrics to smack you in the chops like a moody MSI; it’s all about bouncy electronics and danceable beats. On the demo’s final track ‘Shadows Of Our Sun’, Reeves displays his affection for Reznor’s aggression with a rock hard tune that builds and builds toward a delightfully chaotic close. Some of this stuff is very rough, and the levels are all over the place at times, but overall, this is a solid offering from an enthusiastic and very talented young rivethead.
